Mannu Kya Karegga Fame Vyom Reveals How He ‘Fooled’ College For Auditions

Actor Vyom, a Delhi native, makes history as he debuts on the big screen playing the lead in the feature film Mannu Kya Karegga. His tale is that of perseverance, determination and an unbending commitment to passion, from ducking out of college classes to being the face on a film poster.
Having been born into a non-filmy family, Vyom majored in mechanical engineering first before moving into acting. His persistence, even without connections in the film world, made his dream a reality.
Leaving Home For Mumbai Dreams
According to Filmibeat, recounting his early days, Vyom described his struggles while navigating Mumbai’s competitive entertainment scene. “Leaving home is the biggest and harshest reality of today’s world, especially for those who want to be a part of the showbiz here in Mumbai. Sustaining the initial years in this industry without support is very difficult,” he admitted.
His journey started with short breaks. He appeared as a background actor in a Dream11 advertisement when he was still in college, getting his first experience in front of the camera. Shortly after, he worked as a background actor in Dharma Productions’ Guilty and then as Bhumi Pednekar’s brother in Badhaai Do. He also got a supporting role in the popular Netflix series Delhi Crime 2.
Breakthrough With Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Garmi
Vyom’s professional journey took an upward turn when he starred in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s web series Garmi. His acting was well appreciated, eventually propelling him into the limelight. That success cemented his foothold in the field and led to his first stint as a lead actor.
Reflecting on his start, Vyom attributed school street theatre and his college drama society for instilling an interest in acting in him. His passion, however, meant sacrificing certain comforts.
Sneaking Off To Auditions
Even in his engineering days, Vyom managed to give acting its due priority. “I started acting during school days through street theatre, and then in college, I belonged to the dramatic society. Even during studying mechanical engineering, I was sneaking off to attend auditions and practising lines in front of mirrors and even taking fake sick leaves in college to fly down to Mumbai for auditions as my college had a 75% attendance requirement,” Vyom reminisced.
Those experiences thus gave him greater determination. Not only did they construct his work ethic, but they also validated that acting was his calling in life.
Stepping Into The Spotlight
Now, however, with Mannu Kya Karegga, Vyom takes the jump from background roles to centre stage. His journey from a background actor to a central role in a Hindi feature film is one of persistence and faith in one’s work.
As the movie opens in cinemas today, Vyom’s journey speaks volumes to all outsiders who dare to dream about Bollywood. His journey is proof that even when the journey is long and lonely, the prize can be special.
