Immersive hi-tech Squid Game Experience hits UK and it is brutal playground fun

Squid Game fans can now try a hi-tech immersive experience where you’re thrown into the Korean kill-fest drama. An actor-and-tech-driven live experience has opened in London where fans of the Netflix series can drop themselves directly into the battle for survival show. Called Squid Game: The Experience, you and your friends and family can compete across a series of games just like in the action hit. But, thankfully, no one will get hurt in this immersive experience. Instead, it’s all about trying to outdo not only your companions but also everyone else in the room in a series of five different games. They include the show classic stop-go game Red Light, Green Light – where you’re caught out by your boiler suit-clad hosts if you move on a red light under the watchful eye of the haunting Young-hee doll. Thrill-seekers will also enjoy the show’s iconic bunk room dormitory where the Squid Game soldiers and the infamous Recruiter will prepare you for the excitement. There’s a Memory Steps game, a challenge that tests both observation and nerve as you try to walk a lit-up plank only on the green steps and not the red ones. And there’s also the Marbles Room, where you have to try to capture rivals’ marbles by throwing them in a goal. The challenges run at Immerse LDN, on the waterfront at Excel in east London, until January 4. George Wood, Managing Director of The Luna Entertainment Group, which runs it said: “Squid Game has been one of the biggest cultural phenomena of the last few years, so being able to bring the series to life in London and allow the public to take on the challenges has been a dream come true for us. “We’re excited to welcome as many as possible through our doors before we close on 4th January. “We’re all huge fans of the series, so every challenge has been built from the ground up to recreate the thrills the characters would have felt – trust me, when you’re trying to freeze in front of Young-hee, you’ll know a little more how Player 456 felt in the series. “Until you actually step into the challenge rooms and look in the whites of the eyes of your fellow competitors, do you really know if you’d survive?” All participants record their scores each game via a tech bracelet which shows your scores on a virtual screen until a winner is eventually chosen. Tickets are available now from £21 for under 16’s, £32 for adults.
