Experiencing the beautiful displays nature puts on at this time of the year is one of the joys of autumn. There’s something magical about noticing the leaves changing colour from the green to an array of oranges, yellows and reds. This year, Forestry England highlighted that tree displays will be particularly striking this autumn due to the summer’s warm temperatures and plentiful sunshine. Now, new research has found the best holiday destinations in the UK which are perfect for ‘leaf peeping’, the name given to the activity of observing and photographing the colourful foliage in the autumn months, Luckily for us the top spot for colourful leaves is right on our doorstep. According to analysis by GroupAccommodation.com, Derbyshire is the most popular autumn destination and it’s home to the Peak District , which is “leading the pack for autumn breaks”. Somerset and Devon came in fourth and fifth place respectively. Flowing through it is Burbage Brook, which is crossed with wooden bridges and stepping stones, creating magical scenes straight out of a fairytale. Dovedale is another photo-worthy spot with its famous stepping stones, framed by copper-coloured trees by mid-October. Or for stunning views head to Mam Tor and admire the autumn colours from its 517m summit.
