Thousands of sci-fi and fantasy fans descended on East Kilbride town centre at the weekend to get a glimpse of some of the galaxy’s biggest stars. The local showcase featured a host of cosplay characters with a first joint appearance from Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Shadow. Other headliners included Spider-Man and Venom, Deadpool, SpongeBob and Transformers Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. Shoppers also had the opportunity to sample the Black Heart market, which included the finest roster of handpicked traders and creators that specialise in horror, Goth and alternative merchandise. Dozens of traders of fantasy, sci-fi and pop culture merchandise were at the event, while gamers had the opportunity to try their skills out on a host of arcade machines and modern gaming consoles. Creative youngsters were also catered for in a series of exciting arts and crafts workshops. A spokesperson for EK, East Kilbride, said: “It was a great weekend with some amazing cosplay costumes on display.
