Student Of The Year Actor Caught With Cocaine Worth Rs 35 Crore At Chennai Airport: Report

A Bollywood actor has reportedly been detained at the Chennai airport after he was caught with 3.5 kg of cocaine worth Rs 35 crore in his luggage. As per The Times of India, the actor is known for playing supporting roles in several films, including Karan Johar’s Student of the Year. The star had returned from Singapore when the authorities found drugs hidden in the false bottom of his luggage.
As per TOI, the seizure was part of a joint operation conducted by Chennai Customs and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). The actor had returned from Singapore when air intelligence officials stopped him for checking and found pouches filled with powder. Upon checking, it was confirmed that the substance is cocaine.
Reportedly, the actor claimed that he received the bag at the Singapore airport from an unknown person and was told to hand it over to a receiver at Chennai airport. However, the officials believe that the actor had ulterior motives, which may include supplying the drug to Delhi or Mumbai, where an organised drug network operates.
As per the New Indian Express, a source confirmed that the authorities have caught actor Vishal Brahma, who was in dire need of money and was introduced to a member of a Nigerian drug gang, who offered him an all-expenses-paid holiday to Cambodia along with a few lakhs of rupees.
Custom authorities are reportedly inspecting the travel history of the actor to understand if he had any previous involvement in drug smuggling activities. Meanwhile, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) is investigating the larger network behind such activities.
Woman Arrested With Cocaine
Earlier in July 2025, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence seized cocaine worth Rs 62.6 crore from an Indian woman at Mumbai International Airport.
The development came after specific intelligence developed by officers of DRI Mumbai indicated that a female of Indian nationality, coming from Doha to Mumbai on Monday, would be smuggling narcotics into India.
Acting on the said intelligence, DRI Mumbai officers intercepted the female passenger upon her arrival at Mumbai Airport on Monday, July 14.
Following a thorough examination of her baggage, six Oreo boxes and three chocolate boxes were recovered. Upon opening, all nine boxes were found to contain capsules filled with a white powdery substance purported to be cocaine. A total of 300 such capsules were recovered.
