New Delhi: The Anti-Ragging Committees investigation report at the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) campus of Devi Ahilya University (DAVV) in Indore Madhya Pradesh has revealed shocking facts. According to the report senior students had planned a Gen-Z-style protest modelled on the protests in Nepal. To this end junior students were pressured into creating fake social media accounts and instructed to post and tweet about the protests. After the incident came to light the Anti-Ragging Committee conducted an investigation and statements from junior students also revealed evidence of Nepal-like preparations.
Ragging case
About a month ago senior students ragged a junior student at the IET campus of the Engineering College of Devi Ahilya University. Based on the investigation three senior students were expelled from the hostel for one semester. It has been revealed that these students were the ones who orchestrated this conspiracy.
Plan was made at a hotel
According to information received from the university the strategy for this alleged protest was formulated in a meeting at a private hotel on September 23. Furthermore on September 26 the campus’s CCTV cameras were vandalised and the DVRs were removed. The committee believes this action was taken to conceal the protests activities. The Anti-Ragging Committee recorded statements from students prepared a report on the matter and sent it to the Proctorial Committee.
What did the Anti-Ragging Committee say?
Regarding this matter Devi Ahilya University Vice Chancellor Rakesh Singhal said Some senior students had previously been fined and expelled from the hostel for ragging. These students out of anger threatened the junior students and planned the protest.
Singhal said The report certainly mentions a Nepal-like movement but a thorough investigation is still necessary. The university management has filed a complaint about the entire incident at the Bhanwarkuan police station. However no named FIR has been filed yet. The police are investigating the matter. Strict action will be taken against the guilty students.

Singhal added This case not only raises questions about the campus discipline system but also shows how senior students tried to turn personal anger into a protest. Currently investigations are underway at both the university administration and the police and a decision on the culprits is expected soon.
