Fall litter challenge: The Atlantic County Utilities Authority, in partnership with the Atlantic County Clean Communities Program, announces its 2025 Fall Litter Challenge.
The challenge invites groups of Atlantic County residents to clear litter from roads, parks or other public areas between Oct. 6 and 24. The groups that collect the most litter will take home $500 for first place, $300 for second place and $100 for third place. A $100 prize will also be awarded to the group with the strangest litter find.
“Residents can join us in keeping Atlantic County clean by removing litter from local public spaces,” said Clean Communities Coordinator Rebecca Turygan. “You don’t need to be an established volunteer group to participate. Any resident can grab a few friends to get started.”
Volunteers are invited to create a team of 15 people or fewer to remove litter from public areas throughout the two-week period. Teams must report each cleanup, including the number of bags collected and pictures to verify. The ACUA can provide safety gear and supplies before the challenge begins.
