Back to back?
The Quince Orchard Cougars are picking up right where they left off in December. Maryland’s defending state champs are off to a 4-0 start, eyeing a second straight title. But they’re not the only unbeaten squad in the region. The Winston Churchill Bulldogs are also 4-0, and they’ve got their sights set on knocking off the Cougars as the area’s top team. It all sets the stage for one of the most anticipated showdowns in the DMV — Quince Orchard and Churchill, kicking off Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Battle for the region
In Falls Church, it’s a battle for regional bragging rights as George C. Marshall hosts Yorktown. The Statesmen, now 3-1, are looking to bounce back after suffering their first loss of the season last week against James Madison — a game where their defense gave up 42 points after allowing just 14 all year. They’ll need to regroup quickly against a Patriots squad riding a two-game win streak. Yorktown enters at 3-2, hungry to spoil Marshall’s homecoming night. Kickoff between the Pats and Statesmen is set for 7 p.m. Friday.
