The drive, which began at sunrise, successfully achieved its ambitious goal of planting 75 lakh trees across Odisha by 1:33 PM.
Addressing the gathering, CM Majhi urged citizens to plant a tree in memory of their mothers and care for it like a family member. “Let the tree bloom and bear fruit as a symbol of your dedication. This will be Odisha’s greatest gift to our beloved Prime Minister, to Mother Earth, and to future generations,” he said.
The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 15 lakh school students, 1 lakh college students, 2 lakh teachers, 76,000 Anganwadi workers, 17,500 forest protection committees, 17,000 ASHA workers, 16,500 My Bharat volunteers, and 10,000 eco-clubs. Participants were encouraged to upload selfies with their planted trees on the ‘Meri Life’ portal and share them on social media.
CM Majhi praised PM Modi’s visionary leadership, describing him as a “development icon and the world’s most popular leader.” He offered prayers at the Jagannath Temple for Modi’s long and healthy life and highlighted the Prime Minister’s lifelong commitment to service and sacrifice.
Reflecting on Modi’s governance, Majhi cited transformative schemes like Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan, Ayushman Bharat, Matru Vandana, and PM-Kisan, all aimed at uplifting the poor, empowering women, and supporting farmers. “Every decision he makes reflects his deep understanding of grassroots challenges,” Majhi said.
The Chief Minister also recalled the launch of Odisha’s Subhadra Yojana by PM Modi last year and welcomed the new health initiative “Swasth Naari, Sashakt Parivaar,” launched today. He emphasized that Modi’s birthday is not just a celebration but a day of resolve—for honoring mothers and protecting the planet.
Earlier in the day, CM Majhi participated in a Swachh Bharat drive at Master Canteen Bus Stand, marking the beginning of a two-week nationwide “Seva Pakhwada” from Modi’s birthday to Gandhi Jayanti. He later joined a blood donation camp organized in the city.
