Now that the year is roughly 80% done, analysts have a good idea of where the most S&P 500 profit will come from. And it's not entirely Magnificent. Analysts think seven companies — Alphabet (GOOGL), Apple (AAPL), Nvidia (NVDA), Microsoft (MSFT), Meta Platforms (META), Amazon.com (AMZN) and JPMorgan Chase (JPM) — will each earn $56 billion or more this year, says an Investor's Business Daily analysis of data from S&P Global Market Intelligence and MarketSurge. This would make these companies the most profitable in the S&P 500. All are members of the Magnificent Seven except for JPMorgan Chase. Big Gains, Big Profit These S&P 500 companies aren't just putting up big profit numbers. Their shares are mostly rallying, too. Shares of the top seven profitable companies this year are up 20% on average this year. That easily tops the 14.5% gain by the S&P 500 this year. Some of the individual gains are even more impressive. Shares of Nvidia are up the most among the seven: 35.1%. The AI chipmaker is seen making $110.1 billion this year — more than just two companies in the S&P 500. Not surprisingly, Nvidia has a solid chart. It sports an RS Rating of 85. And its EPS Rating of 99 is perfect. Not all S&P 500 companies will ever earn as much as these seven. And that's a detail not missed by many investors.
