If you don't have time to binge all 10 episodes of Landman season 1 before season 2, here are the 7 biggest things to know before Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) returns. Landman season 2 premieres Sunday, November 16, on Paramount+. Even among the many hit series Taylor Sheridan created for Paramount+, Landman is a phenomenon. Co-created by Christian Wallace, Landman season 1 is the most-watched original series on Paramount. Landman's series premiere was watched by 35 million people globally, and Landman season 1's finale is Paramount+ most-watched finale in history. Landman season 1's conclusion left numerous story threads open to be continued in season 2. Landman season 2 introduces new characters, like Tommy Norris' father, played by Sam Elliott, and makes Galino, the Mexican cartel head played by Andy Garcia, a major character. Here are the main things to know from "The Crumbs of Hope," Landman season 1's ending: Monty Miller Died Of A Heart Attack, Cami Miller Now Runs M-Tex Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) died of a heart attack in Landman season 1's finale. The President of M-Tex, Monty was a background character who was often on the phone and troubled by the latest developments Tommy reported to him throughout Landman season 1. However, Monty was seriously ill, and he succumbed to his heart condition as he was too weak for a transplant. Monty's death leaves his wife, Cami Miller (Demi Moore), as the sole owner of M-Tex. Tommy advised Cami to sell the company, but she wants to continue to honor Monty's memory. Cami is now faced with the difficult decision of how to move forward with the company, especially after the revelation of Monty's corporate crimes, as seen in Landman season 2's trailer. Tommy Norris Is The New M-Tex President & Still Deals With His Family When Monty Miller was still alive, he named Tommy Norris M-Tex's new vice president of operations. However, Tommy meant much more to Monty, and Norris found out when Monty became incapacitated. Monty's will named Tommy as the new M-Tex President in his stead. As the new President of M-Tex, Tommy has several pressing crises on his plate, from dealing with the company's board of directors, supporting Cami Miller as the new sole owner of M-Tex, the ongoing issue of Mexican cartels, and pursuing a farm-out deal for the company. Complicating Tommy's life, of course, is the presence of his family. Tommy and his ex-wife, Angela (Ali Larter), are trying to give their relationship a second chance, Tommy can't deal with his daughter, Ainsley's (Michelle Randolph), promiscuity, while prodigal son Cooper (Jacob Lofland) has his own ambitions in the oil business. Cooper Is Setting Up His Own Drilling Business & Growing Closer To Ariana Cooper Norris moved in with Ariana Medina (Paulina Chavez) in Landman season 1, and they keep growing closer despite Ariana still grieving her late husband, Elvio (Alejandro Akara). In Landman season 1's finale, Cooper "walked through every memory" of Elvio with Ariana, who admitted that she's allowing Norris to replace her husband. Meanwhile, Cooper's ambitions to become rich in the oil business see him making moves to become a landman. Cooper allied with investors to be a middleman for oil companies, buying up land and drills from landowners who don't think there's oil in the ground beneath their feet. Cooper's new business is bound to conflict with M-Tex and Tommy, and he doesn't yet know that his dad is M-Tex's new President. Rebecca Falcone Has To Negotiate A Massive M-Tex Deal Despite Rebecca Falcone (Kayla Wallace) and Tommy having a falling out, Monty Miller promoted Rebecca as legal counsel before his heart attack and death. This means Rebecca now works for Tommy as M-Tex's new President, and Norris assigned Falcone a task that terrifies her. Tommy ordered Rebecca to negotiate a $170 million farmout lease, with Nate (Colm Feore) taking her through the numbers and Dale Bradley (James Jordan) explaining the science. Rebecca finds the plan, which involves fracking, morally reprehensible, but she's stuck making this deal or else Falcone can look for another job. Angela And Ainsley Are Helping An Old Folks Home On a completely unrelated note from Tommy and the oil business, Angela and Ainsley have been working with the retirees in an old folks' home, trying to boost their morale. This included taking their elderly clients to a strip club, which included Ainsley coaxing her boyfriend, Ryder (Mitchell Slaggert), to strip and dance for the oldies. Landman season 1 had problems finding a purpose for Angela besides trying to rebuild her marriage with Tommy and cook family dinners that end explosively. Angela's irreverence turns out to be matched by the bored old people at the home, who appreciate Angela's out-of-the-box thinking. Angela and Ainsley's work with the elderly looks to continue in Landman season 2. Ainsley Is Seeing Ryder and Going To College Ainsley Norris spent most of Landman season 1 looking for something to do in the summer, but Angela and Tommy's daughter is college-bound. Landman season 2 shot scenes in Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, and this could be where Ainsley goes to school in Landman season 2. Ainsley met and began dating football player Ryder, and she coaxed him into stripping for their elderly clients in Landman season 1's finale. Ainsley then "got Ryder paid" by sleeping with him. Looks like their relationship will continue in Landman season 2, which is one more thing about Ainsley that her father doesn't want to know about. Galino Saved Tommy’s Life & Wants To Be Friends Jimenez (Alex Meraz), a lieutenant of a Mexican drug cartel, and Tommy Norris had a rivalry throughout Landman that boiled over in the season 1 finale. Jimenez kidnapped Tommy and forced him to watch M-Tex drills get blown up before holding Norris at the back of a strip club and torturing him. Then, suddenly, Jimenez and his men were shot dead. Tommy's savior was Galino, revealing Andy Garcia as a major new antagonist in Landman season 2. Galino saved Tommy to pursue his surprising new agenda for the cartel and M-Tex to become "friends." Tommy has no intention of forming any friendship with Galino, but he recognizes this big boss as an even more formidable rival and even greater problem than Jimenez was.
