An antique police cruiser from Canton, Massachusetts, which made a cameo during the Karen Read trial, could become a valuable collectible now that it's up for auction. The Canton Police Department is selling the 1965 Ford Galaxie seen alongside Read's SUV in the sallyport shortly after John O'Keefe's death. That footage — and questions about it being inverted — came to light during the state's first trial against Read last year. The public is invited to bid on the still-operable, 60 year-old car online. Ernie Boch Jr, who has his own collection of cars and an automotive business, estimates the car is worth about $8,000 -- potentially thousands more, if the cruiser's cultural association is valued by bidders. "I think it's [$10,000-$12,000]. It depends. If it has to complete your collection, or if you're just some 'Crazy police car, I have to have it' -- it could do more," Boch said. Over the past 20 years, the vehicle has been used for parades and community engagements. It has about 60,000 miles on the odometer and a problematic gas tank. The minimum bid was $3,500. As of Wednesday night, the bidding had eclipsed $9,000. Money from the sale goes to the Town of Canton's general fund. The auction closes Nov. 17.
