6 Must-Watch Drama Movies on Prime Video (November 2025): The Iron Claw and More

In wrestling circles, few names were bigger than the Von Erichs in Texas during the ’80s, even as the WWF (currently WWE) was going national. However, the legacy of the Von Erichs is mired with tragedy, as explored in the sports biopic The Iron Claw. Jack “Fritz” Von Erich (Holt McCallany) was a former wrestler himself, and he trained his sons, David (Harris Dickinson), Kevin (Zac Efron), Kerry (Jeremy Allen White) and Mike Von Erich (Stanley Simons) into wrestling stars. But the choices made by the Von Erich brothers and their father led to their personal and professional decline, as well as a cautionary tale that’s still relevant decades later. The Iron Claw will stream on Prime Video on November 19. Good Will Hunting was the film that marked Matt Damon and Ben Affleck‘s arrival as stars, and it also earned them an Oscar for cowriting the script. Robin Williams won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Dr. Sean Maguire, the psychiatrist who has to help Will Hunting (Damon) move past his anger issues. MIT Professor Gerald Lambeau (Stellan Skarsgård) is the first to realize that Will is mathematically gifted, even though he’s only a janitor at the school. Will’s studies with Lambeau also pave the way for his romance with a woman named Skylar (Minnie Driver). But Will is so afraid of being hurt that he may sabotage his new life before it can really begin. Good Will Hunting is streaming on Prime Video. The story of Argo sounds completely unbelievable, at least until you learn that the bulk of the movie really happened. Ben Affleck directed the film and starred as CIA officer Tony Mendez, a man facing the dilemma of his career. In 1979, members of the Iranian revolution took an embassy full of American hostages, while six managed to escape to the home of Canadian ambassador Ken Taylor (Victor Garber). Since Canadians had more leeway than Americans at this point in time, Mendez concocts a fake sci-fi movie to be filmed in Iran, with the intent to pass off the six Americans as members of the Canadian film crew. It’s an idea that’s so crazy, it might just work if it doesn’t get them all killed. Argo is streaming on Prime Video. Julia Roberts made her name in the rom-com genre, but she won Best Actress at the Oscars for her dramatic performance in Erin Brockovich. This biopic was directed by Steven Soderbergh, and it tells the true story of Erin Brokovich, an unlikely legal advocate who discovered that the Pacific Gas and Electric Company had contaminated the groundwater in Hinkley, California. Albert Finney costars as Brokovich’s boss, Edward L. Masry. While Masry is the lawyer behind the subsequent class action suit against PG&E, Brockovich is the glue that holds it together. She may not know the law, but she knows people and how to help them in a legal battle against a foe with nearly unlimited resources. Erin Brockovich is streaming on Prime Video. Unlike many other biopics, The Fire Inside‘s Claressa “T-Rex” Shields isn’t someone from the past whose time has come and gone. Shields is still an active boxer in 2025, and one of her claims to fame is that she was the first American woman to win a gold medal in boxing at the Olympics. Ryan Destiny plays Shields in the movie as she learns how to box from her coach, Jason Crutchfield (Brian Tyree Henry). Shields does have the heart of a champion, but she’s shocked when her in-ring success doesn’t lead to the opportunities that other athletes are easily afforded. And winning this fight won’t be as easy as her battles in the ring. The Fire Inside is streaming on Prime Video. Following the passing of Pope Francis, there has been a renewed interest in 2024’s thrilling papal drama, Conclave. This drama takes place behind the closed doors of Vatican City as the College of Cardinals comes together to select a new pope. Cardinal Thomas Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) oversees the election as four frontrunners emerge in the contest to become the next pontiff. Each candidate represents a different Catholic philosophy that could reshape the church for generations. However, the candidates have secrets that could not only derail the election, but they could also spark a new scandal in the church that may bring the entire institution to its knees. Conclave is streaming on Prime Video.
