5 reasons you should attend the NetOne Albun Honde Valley Marathon

The NetOne Albun Honde Valley Marathon is just over three weeks away. The brainchild of former Zimbabwe international Alois Bunjira, it is now in its third season and has become a feature of the calendar for various reasons. If you are still on the fence about heading over, then we have six reasons we believe will grab your running shoes and head over to the Eastern Highlands. Experience one of Zimbabwe’s most scenic marathon routes The Eastern Highlands are known for their postcard-perfect views, and the Honde Valley is no exception. Participants take in the stunning natural beauty as the visual feast gently undulates through the course. The route winds through the kind of terrain many can only dream about. And, if you’re there as an amateur, you might as well carry your camera. It’s now an International Event & Comrades Qualifier The marathon has been officially registered as an international event by the World Athletics Board and now serves as a qualifier for the prestigious Comrades ultramarathon in South Africa, one of the world’s most challenging and celebrated races. This means the course has been scientifically measured to meet global standards. It also means the race now attracts talented runners from not just Zimbabwe but across the world. It’s a full weekend of adventure The organisers have thoughtfully curated adventure tours that showcase the best of the Eastern Highlands, including the Honde Valley Experience and Nyanga tours.
