44 Sworn In as Belizean Citizens in Belmopan
Forty-four men and women officially became Belizean citizens this morning during a naturalisation ceremony held at the University of Belize gymnasium in Belmopan.
The new citizens took the oath of allegiance, pledging to uphold the Constitution and laws of Belize, respect the country’s history and culture, and contribute faithfully to its development. The oath also called on them to devote themselves to the service and well-being of the Belizean people, strengthen democracy and the rule of law, and defend the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Francis Fonseca congratulated the group, telling them, “They join a nation on the move and on the rise. With love and passion in our hearts and hands, let us work together to build Belize.”
After singing the national anthem, the new Belizeans proudly received their certificates of citizenship.
