A man from Karnataka’s Shivamogga, popularly known as “Oil Kumar,” has become the subject of viral fascination for allegedly drinking seven to eight litres of engine oil every single day. In a video making rounds on Instagram, Kumar—bare-chested, wearing a lungi, and resembling a monk—was seen drinking engine oil straight from a bottle. The post further claimed that he has not followed a regular diet for over three decades, surviving instead on tea and engine oil. Note: Times Now could not verify the authenticity of the post and does not endorse unscientific claims. The caption of the viral video read: “For the past 33 years, Shivamogga’s Oil Kumar has amazed the world by living without food. Instead of rice or chapati, his daily diet includes 7–8 litres of waste engine oil and tea. Doctors and scientists remain shocked as he continues to stay healthy and strong without any hospital visits. Kumar believes this unique lifestyle is possible only due to the blessings of Lord Ayyappa. His story has become one of the most talked-about medical mysteries in Karnataka and India, attracting attention as a true miracle of faith.” The video, which has garnered over 2 lakh likes, also carried a warning about the dangerous consequences of consuming engine oil, including organ damage, coma, or even death. Social media reactions have been a mix of shock and humor. One user commented, “RIP SCIENCE SCIENCE SHOCK AYYAPPA ROCK.” Another quipped, “Which brand engine is this?” Whether miracle or myth, the story of Oil Kumar has left the internet stunned and debating.
