A 32-year-old man killed his 19-year-old sister, broke her limbs and disposed her body about 70 km away in Kushinagar district over a money dispute, police said on Thursday. According to police, the accused, Ram Ashish Nishad, had murdered his sister Neelam over a dispute regarding Rs 5 lakh compensation their father, Chinku Nishad, received for land required under a road project. Chinku had planned to use the money for Neelam’s wedding while Ram demanded a share of the money. PTI quoted the police as saying that Ram visited the house while other family members were away on Monday. He had strangled Neelam with a piece of cloth, broke her limbs, stuffed her body into a sack and tied it to his bike before dumping it in a sugarcane field in Kushinagar, Superintendent of Police (SP) City Abhinav Tyagi said. After Neelam went missing, her father assumed she had gone for Chhath Puja but later his neighbours told him seeing Ram leaving with a large sack. The police checked the CCTV footage confirming the incident. PTI quoted the police as saying that Ram had initially feigned ignorance during interrogation but later confessed to the murder. The body was recovered late of Wednesday following the accused’s confession, SP Tyagi said. Following this, the parents have demanded death penalty for their son and even suspecting his wife’s involvement in the crime.
