Garden State (2004)
In the early 2000s, Zach Braff was best known for playing the lovable J.D. Dorian on Scrubs. During the middle of his run, Braff wrote and directed Garden State, a funny and moving depiction of a young adult at a crossroads in his life.
After spending time in Los Angeles as an actor, Andrew Largeman (Zach Braff) returns to his New Jersey hometown to attend his mother’s funeral. At a doctor’s appointment, Andrew meets Sam (Natalie Portman), a charming, compulsive liar who brings out his softer side. By spending more time with Sam, Andrew slowly opens up and learns to do the most important thing to heal: forgive himself.

Invincible (2006)
It’s football season, and everyone loves a good underdog story. Mark Wahlberg played an unlikely NFL player in Invincible. In 1976, bartender Vince Papale (Wahlberg) can’t catch a break. Papale is laid off from his teaching job, and his wife leaves him.
The only thing keeping Papale together is playing sandlot football and watching the Philadelphia Eagles. When the Eagles hire a new coach, the team decides to hold open tryouts for the public. Papale reluctantly attends and invites him to training camp to earn a roster spot. Invincible follows a familiar biopic formula, but its inspirational message remains heartwarming.
