Netflix remains one of the biggest streaming services in the world, and that means there are so many movies to choose from. Every month, Netflix adds new titles to the streaming service, while others leave. On top of that, the newly arrived movies bury the rest, making it even harder to find great movies to watch each week. This week, a great new movie has been added to the streaming service, featuring the latest version of a classic horror monster tale by one of cinema's most brilliant directors. Add in a great fantasy classic and one of the more complex sci-fi films from today's greatest blockbuster director, and Netflix has some great movies to choose from this week. Frankenstein (2025) Netflix added Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein to its streaming service on November 7, after a two-week limited theatrical release. The film is a masterful re-telling of the classic Mary Shelley novel, and it plays the story much closer to the source material than any other version, including the Universal Horror classic. Oscar Isaac stars as Dr. Frankenstein, while Jacob Elordi delivers an Oscar-worthy performance as the Creature. The film tells the story first from Frankenstein's point of view, then from the Creature's, and, added to Del Toro's masterful filmmaking, this might be the best-looking version of the Frankenstein story. The movie is a haunting look at a mad scientist who plays God, only to reject his creation, leading to a tragic ending for both. Frankenstein will rank among the greatest Netflix original movies in the streamer's history. Labyrinth (1986) Labyrinth is one of the best fantasy movies of the 1980s. In the movie, Jennifer Connelly stars as a teenage girl named Sarah, who becomes frustrated by her baby brother's crying and asks the mythological Goblin King to take him away. What she never expected was that the Goblin King was real. David Bowie is magnificent as the Goblin King. However, the puppetry of all the supernatural creatures is the selling point of this beloved fantasy classic. Jim Henson directed the movie, based on a script by Monty Python's Terry Jones, and Jim Henson's Creature Shop designed the creatures. The movie remains one of the most beloved cult classics of the 1980s, and that has allowed it to find life in other areas, including video games, comic books, board games, and more. Tenet (2020) For anyone who wants to see a complex and very confusing sci-fi film, Tenet is also streaming on Netflix this week. Directed by Christopher Nolan, this might be one of his most misunderstood movies, but for fans of sci-fi with complex ideas, there might not be anything better released this decade so far. Nolan once again plays with time, as the entire plot here is for a team to use time travel to change the course of history, with the rules overly complicated, yet fascinating when put into motion. John David Washington stars as The Protagonist, and Robert Pattinson stars as his handler.
