3-ingredient drink can instantly reduce inflammation and soothe sore throats

If you're suffering from some sort of sickness at the moment, you're certainly not alone. And if you're holed up at home, spending as much time in bed as possible, you may be trying all the home remedies under the sun to feel better. From paracetamol to napping , there are so many different things you can try. But one woman shared a drink that can soothe your throat instantly, and also has a wealth of benefits behind the scenes, too. TikToker @thewellnessspot shared all you need are three ingredients that will hopefully see you on the mend in no time at all. She captioned the video: "Anyone else feeling sick right now!? Ginger tea has a ton of benefits, ranging from pain and nausea relief, inflammation, and even morning sickness! The best part... it only takes 20 minutes to make." First, you'll need to take some ginger root, lemon, and local honey. Of course, you'll need water to make the drink, too. You need to "wash and peel the ginger," and then "thinly slice" it up. Then, the ginger needs to be placed into a saucepan of boiling water for 10-20 minutes. While you wait, slice your lemon up, and prepare to give the honey a squeeze into your mug of choice. Once the ginger has boiled for the allocated amount of time, strain it into a glass, and then "add the lemon and honey to taste". She added a generous squirt of honey, squeezed some lemon into it, and then topped it off with some lemon slices for extra vitamin C. Healthline shares that "ginger may have numerous health benefits due to anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea, and other properties. It may aid digestion, reduce nausea, manage arthritis , alleviate menstrual symptoms, and more". According to the Cleveland Clinic, ginger can support your immune system due to its rich antioxidant content, while also offering anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, antiviral and antibacterial properties. Lemons are also really good for you, and Healthline shares they contain a high amount of vitamin C, soluble fibre, and plant compounds. Lemons are not only a very healthy fruit but also have a distinct, pleasant taste and smell that make them a great addition to foods and drinks. They definitely slightly sweeten the ginger taste, which can be quite strong on its own. Honey also has a wealth of health benefits, and isn't just good for sweetening your drink up. Healthline shares that honey is rich in nutrients and antioxidants, and has antibacterial properties. Minimally processed honey contains many important bioactive plant compounds and antioxidants, such as flavonoids and phenolic acids. Darker varieties tend to offer more antioxidants than lighter varieties. It's also better for blood sugar levels than regular sugar, so if you need something to sweeten slightly, it's better to drizzle some honey on, rather than reach for the sugar to sweeten it.
