Three people have been arrested months after a fatal stabbing in Derry, New Hampshire, officials said Monday, sharing new details about what’s believed to have led to the killing.
Marco Junior Marquez Vera, 20, was arrested in Madrid, Spain, and Jeffrey Li, 18, was arrested in Queens, New York, on second-degree murder charges in the May 19 killing, according to New Hampshire’s attorney general and state police as well as Derry police.
Law enforcement had said little about the killing of Gui Lin, near a business on Peabody Annex Road — behind the Hood Commons shopping mall. But police and prosecutors said Monday that Vera and Li traveled with another person, 18-year-old Ayaan Nisaar, to the address in order to commit a burglary.
All three were charged with robbery, attempted burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary, officials said. Nisaar was also arrested in Queens.
It wasn’t immediately clear if any of the three had attorneys who could speak to the charges. They’re due to be brought to New Hampshire, with court dates not yet determined.
Authorities were still asking that anyone with information about the killing reach out to investigators at mcu@dos.nh.gov or by calling 603-MCU-TIPS.
Investigators didn’t say how the trio are believed to have targeted Lin, a 41-year-old whom authorities have said died after being rushed to Elliot Hospital with what was later found to be a fatal stab wound to his heart.
