Salem: Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare Minister Ma Subramanian announced on Wednesday that 25 new government hospitals will be established across the state, with an investment of Rs 1,019 crore. The proposed hospitals are planned in locations including Tiruttani, Tambaram, Palani, Tirupattur, Kangeyam, Jayankondam, Thirukovilur, and Paramakudi. The minister emphasized that the government is not only constructing modern hospital buildings but also taking steps to appoint additional doctors to ensure better healthcare delivery.Also Read:Rs 487.66 crore allocated for 750-Bed Paediatric Hospital: Ma SubramanianSubramanian made these remarks during the inauguration of the upgraded Government Headquarters Hospital in Tiruchengode. The hospital was inaugurated by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin via video conferencing from Chennai, while Minister Subramanian was present in Tiruchengode. The hospital, which now spans 65,000 square feet, has seen its capacity increase from 160 to 225 beds across the ground floor and four upper floors. The government spent Rs 23 crore on the infrastructure improvements."A CT scan and other essential equipment worth Rs 2.33 crore are already operational in this hospital," the minister noted, adding that the facility would offer treatment for paediatric care with advanced medical devices, reports TOI. Earlier, according to news reports, the minister conducted a surprise visit to Edappadi Government Hospital in Salem district. During the inspection, he examined the operating theatre, blood purification unit, medical warehouse, kitchen, pharmacy, and other hospital facilities.Also Read:2642 doctors to get appointment letters, says Health Minister Ma SubramanianFollowing the visit, the minister stated that the Chief Minister places high importance on healthcare and public welfare, highlighting the implementation of initiatives like the People’s Health program along with 48 other schemes focused on saving lives. "In this context, I inspected the Edappadi hospital and spoke to the doctors regarding the treatment being given to the patients," he said.The minister also interacted with doctors and patients, seeking feedback and providing guidance to ensure that medical services continue to operate at the highest standards.
