21-year-old engineer claims he earned over ₹30,000 in August by posting on X

Young engineer’s earnings through social media

New Delhi: A 21-year-old engineer named Kanav has claimed that he earned more than ₹30,000 in a single month simply by posting content on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. Between 5 July and 30 August, his total earnings reportedly touched ₹67,419, with around ₹32,000 credited in August alone.

How the income was generated

Kanav is part of X’s Creator Revenue Sharing programme, which allows eligible creators to earn a portion of the advertising revenue. He began sharing technology-related content a couple of months ago, steadily gaining traction. According to his statements, his posts received nearly 28.4 million impressions, and he has a following of around 882 verified users on the platform.

His statement on earnings

Kanav compared his earnings with job placements in smaller cities, saying, “Posting on X is already paying me more than average Tier-3 campus placement, and I literally only started two months ago.”

Uncertainty over claims

While his claims have drawn attention, they remain unverified. Screenshots and data presented by him have not been independently authenticated. Some social media users have expressed scepticism about the sustainability and accuracy of such income from X.

Broader context

This story highlights the growing trend of young Indians exploring content creation as a side income. Platforms like X, YouTube and Instagram now offer opportunities for revenue sharing, creating alternative income streams beyond traditional employment. However, experts caution that such earnings may vary widely and depend heavily on engagement, niche, and platform policies.

Kanav’s claim, whether fully accurate or not, underlines the growing influence of social media platforms in shaping careers and income sources for India’s youth. His story adds to the debate on whether digital content creation can rival conventional jobs, especially in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
