CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The 2025 South Carolina School Report Cards, released Monday by the Department of Education, highlight varying performances across all districts in the state, including the tri-county area. Each school district is given a report card based on a variety of data points in topics like academic achievement, graduation rate and college and career readiness. The report reveals Charleston County School District had a steady increase in performance with high improvement in elementary level students. For the first time, Sanders-Clyde Elementary School earned a “Good” rating. All grades saw continued progress. More than 60% of district schools earned “Good” or “Excellent” ratings this year, compared to the state average of 49%. The district ranks ahead of the state in all categories involving ‘Students in the graduation cohort who are college or career ready,’ ranking 58.4% which is down from last year. Dorchester School District Two was a leader in the Lowcountry with eight schools earning an excellent overall rating. None of its schools were rated as below average or unsatisfactory. This year’s graduation rate of 91.4% increased by two percentage points over the previous year. The district’s graduation rate surpassed the state average of 86.7%. As for Berkeley County, the district’s graduation rate was on par with the state, with the district ranking 86.2% and the state at 86.7%. The dropout rate is down from 2.5% from last year. The district is behind the state when it comes to ‘Students in the graduation cohort who are college OR career ready.’ The district is about 10% lower than the state. That’s based on several data points, ACT and AP course scores, as well as technical college certifications.
