The National Sports Commission (NSC) will celebrate the achievements of Guyana’s top athletes, coaches, and officials at its Annual National Sports Awards on November 8, where the nation’s sporting excellence in 2024 will be in the spotlight. After reviewing submissions from national federations, the NSC’s selection committee has finalized this year’s winners. Director of Sport Steve Ninvalle commended the panel for ensuring a transparent, merit-based process that highlights the very best of Guyana’s sporting talent. Leading the list of nominees is national footballer Omari Glasgow, Guyana’s all-time leading goal scorer, who headlines the Sportsman of the Year category. Glasgow’s standout performances in the CONCACAF Nations League—where he won both the Best Young Player and Top Scorer awards—helped guide the Golden Jaguars to a historic promotion to League A. He is joined by bodybuilder Nicholas Albert, who earned his IFBB Pro Card this year, Olympian Emanuel Archibald, and national cricketer Ashmead Nedd.
