DENVER (KDVR) — A man and woman were arrested in Wellington last week after the Larimer County Sheriff's Office said they were driving under the influence in a gas station parking lot and the man started a brief barricade in the vehicle. "There are no predictable days on Patrol," the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post. "Our deputies approach every call with a problem-solving mindset and an unwavering focus on public safety." The incident happened on Oct. 21 at around 12:30 p.m. when witnesses at the gas station called law enforcement because of the woman's "erratic and confrontational behavior," according to the sheriff's office. Arriving deputies found the woman driving in the parking lot, and "when they contacted her, they learned that she was under the heavy influence of alcohol." They arrested her and asked the man in the vehicle to exit as well. He refused, according to the sheriff's office, and locked the vehicle. Deputies also learned he was intoxicated as well. The man started the vehicle, prompting deputies to use "other tactics" to keep him from leaving. The man was still uncooperative, and deputies used a 40mm less-lethal launcher to deploy a hard foam projectile to break a window, then pepperballs to force the man out of the vehicle, according to the sheriff's office. "He prepared to run but saw K9 Mav standing by and changed his mind," the sheriff's office said, and they then took him into custody as well. Both people were booked into the Larimer County jail on multiple charges.
