Palmetto Cards buys new store location
Palmetto Cards recently purchased an 8,285-square-foot retail and office building at 607 Columbia Ave. near downtown Lexington, according to the commercial real estate firm Colliers South Carolina, which facilitated the transaction.
Founded in 2022, Palmetto Cards is a Lexington-based retailer specializing in sports cards and collectibles. Its store, currently located on Main Street in Lexington, will relocate to the Columbia Avenue facility to meet growing demand. Palmetto Cards plans to upfit and relocate to a 3,072-square-foot suite, sharing the building with existing co-tenant Coldwell Banker.
Grayson Greiner, a brokerage associate at Colliers specializing in site selection, buyer and tenant representation, land brokerage and the sale of retail or owner-occupied properties, brokered the sale.
“Palmetto Cards has built a strong brand and loyal following in a short period of time, and this expansion reflects both its growth and the increasing demand for experiential retail in Lexington,” Greiner said. “As a fellow sports and baseball enthusiast, it was a pleasure working on this deal. Our shared passion made the process even more rewarding, and we’re proud to have helped position Palmetto Cards for long-term success in a dynamic corridor.”
Groundbreaking held at Congaree Pointe
The City of Columbia recently held a ceremonial groundbreaking at The Station at Congaree Pointe, a forthcoming mixed-use development that aims to revitalize the Bluff Road corridor.
Columbia Mayor Daniel Rickenmann and other municipal leaders took part in the ceremony on Sept. 10. The Station at Congaree Pointe is a partnership between the city, Richland County, and entities such as the Columbia Empowerment Zone, The Integral Group, Cooperative Health and the Midlands Community Development Corporation.
Land for the 8.8-acre complex was purchased in 2022, and site clearing began in April. The development will host a new Richland County magistrates office and sheriff’s substation, a new city of Columbia municipal court and southern police headquarters, a family heath care center, and a building that will offer fresh fruits and vegetables, potentially through a farmers market.
