Hyderabad: As the number of fake doctors continues to rise at an alarming rate in the state, the Telangana State Medical Council (TGMC) recently caught 18 quacks practising allopathy during raids conducted across multiple locations in a single day. These unregistered medical practitioners were found treating patients illegally- without a medical degree, registration, or even basic knowledge of allopathy. They were found prescribing medicines as well as administering antibiotics, steroids, and pain-relieving injections.According to a press release, the council, along with TGMC Executive Committee member Dr Sunny Davis and co-opted member Dr Shirish Kumar, conducted surprise inspections at small nursing homes, one-room clinics, and first-aid centres in Kamareddy and Nizamabad districts.Also read- Telangana Medical Council steps up fight against Quackery, registers 500 FIRsAs per Telangana Today media report, the accused include Polam Rajender and Gundla Shankar from Mosra village; K Srinivas Rao from Chandur village; Mahender Goud, Bheem Rao, and Ahmed from Varni; S Ravinder, Rama Rao, and Mogulaiah from Nasrullabad village; Mahesh Yadav and Balakrishna from Birkur village; Annam Venkatesh, Sudhakar, Shivaji, Jadhav Balaji, and V Satyanarayana from Jukkal; and Kongari Raghu and Besta Pandari from Pitlam village.Following the crackdown, the council announced that FIRs will be registered against the accused under the National Medical Commission Act and the Telangana Medical Practitioners Registration Act. A detailed report will also be submitted to the concerned authorities.Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Telangana State Medical Council uncovered illegal medical practices during a series of raids in Station Ghanpur, Jangaon district. Four clinics were found operating without qualified medical professionals.As soon as news of the inspections spread, five unlicensed practitioners shut down their clinics and fled. According to TGMC officials, cases will be registered against all ten quacks for unauthorised medical practice and endangering public health.One of the most alarming cases involved a BHMS-qualified homoeopath, who was found operating a clinic illegally under the name of a retired Army officer.
