15 Women Share Husband Cheating Stories

"When I left my husband due to his behaviour, he started crying and asked how I found out he’d been cheating. I didn’t know at all, but I pretended I did." A while back, we wrote about women who accidentally found out their husbands were cheating, and the responses ranged from absolutely gut-wrenching to shocking. Then, some more formerly married women ended up sharing their own stories. Here are the most interesting ones: 1. "My police officer husband and I hadn’t been getting along. He had gotten excessively mean and distant, and he had been drinking himself into a stupor every night. One night, he texted me and asked for an account balance. I replied, told him, and sent a screenshot of that account. He replied to me with the same screenshot. I texted him back and asked if he meant to send that to someone else. He then played dumb and acted like he had no idea what I was talking about, and said he hadn't sent me that screenshot. He went so far as to delete it from his message string and send me a screenshot of his messages to me." "Then he went on a 'work trip' two hours away. But I looked into it, and there was no such work trip. I confronted him, but he told me I was being stupid and insisted that there was a work trip. The day after he left, I went to the airport and drove around until I found his car parked. So, he obviously flew somewhere and didn’t drive to this work trip. Turns out he flew there with a woman with whom he had been having an affair for many months. Her husband confirmed it when I talked to him." —Anonymous, 47, Omaha 2. "My husband became very active in our parish choir shortly after the birth of our child. Our local priest, a family friend, performed the baptism. Come to find out my husband was having an affair with our parish priest. Yes, I divorced him." —Anonymous, 60, Illinois 3. "My aunt found out about my uncle when she found his Viagra. They weren't having sexy time, so she knew. Then, she found the spicy video of the woman. My aunt didn't confront him until she had him served where he and his girlfriend worked together." —Anonymous, 40 4. "I had been with my ex for almost six years before I accidentally discovered his infidelity. I was using the restroom when I happened to see something shiny in the corner of my eye coming from my shower. When I went to check to see what it was, I saw that there was a stud earring near the shower drain that was not mine. We didn’t have family or friends living nearby, so I knew it could only mean one thing. My ex and I had opposite schedules, as I worked during the day and he worked at night. While I was working with special education kids during the day, he was cheating with a coworker at our place." "After making the discovery at night while I was working, I called in sick to work the next morning. I waited for him to get home all morning and afternoon, unsure if he would return with another woman. I even parked my car elsewhere so he wouldn’t know I was home. He was supposed to arrive home around 9 a.m., but didn’t get home until 4 p.m., which is just 15 minutes before my arrival time from work. When he came inside, I saw the surprise in his eyes when he saw that I was already home. I confronted him, and he denied it, but he couldn’t hide his guilt. I accused him of lying, and he admitted that he was cheating. I immediately called his mother and told her everything. He was so ashamed and begged for my forgiveness. I broke up with him, and he ended up marrying the other woman. I’m so glad I found out the truth and dodged a bullet. In the end, that woman 'stole my problem, not my man.'" —Anonymous, 34, San Diego, CA 5. "My ex-husband, a trauma doctor, was so full of himself that he was a jerk to everyone who wasn’t his boss. So, he was fired from every job he had. After our fifth move to another city, we landed in Morgantown, WV. He was often on call and would be summoned to the hospital at a moment's notice when someone was severely injured in an accident. Every other city, he would fly out of the house without a goodbye or any delay. All of a sudden, he started showering, shaving, and applying aftershave before going in to take care of the patient. I noticed right away and confronted him. But he always had an excuse. I left him after nine months and 10 days, and he moved his 'surgical tech' into our house." "We were married for 20 years and together 27. They got married two months after our divorce was final. She is 20 years younger and is now caring for a 70-year-old man who is unable to hold down a job. I feel great, and I’ve been enjoying my retirement for nine years now." —Anonymous, 70, West Virginia 6. "When I left my husband due to his behaviour, he started crying and asked how I found out he’d been cheating. I didn’t know at all, but I pretended I did. By the time I was done packing, he’d told me everything in his apology. I wasn’t even mad about it because it verified to me that I would be wasting my time if I stayed. That affair helped me go through the divorce with a smile on my face. She can keep him." —Anonymous, 50, Canada 7. "I was married to a military man for three years, and we had a daughter who was one year old. I knew he had been cheating for some time. A neighbor saw him bring a woman into our house every time he took me to the laundromat. He was an avid photographer, and that was how he was procuring his women. He took many Polaroid pictures in the area nightclubs. With the old Polaroid, you took a picture, then peeled it apart, producing a picture with a peel-away negative. It was my task to clean his camera case, and in doing so, while he was away in Greece, I found several peelings of pictures of him in bed with two women. I immediately found a lawyer, a job, an apartment, plus a nursery for my daughter. As soon as I was able, I left to live with my parents in Illinois. Divorce granted." —Anonymous, 84, Indiana 8. "My husband started acting strangely after I had reconstructive surgery from a mastectomy. A month later, I was innocently going through my Kindle account, which I guess my husband didn’t realize was shared, and I found books about BDSM and ethical non-monogamy (not things we pursued as part of our marriage). I confronted him, and he denied having an affair. A few months later, he asked for a trial separation and then moved out, all the while denying an affair. I found the smoking gun a month or two after that. In his haste to leave, he left behind his diaries, where he had written everything down, and it didn’t take long to piece it all together. To this day, he keeps saying he hopes I’ll forgive him when he hasn’t apologized or made any amends for all the lying and cheating. He’s still with the same woman, but I recently found out she has four cats, and he’s highly allergic." —Anonymous, 55, Los Angeles 9. "What about testing positive for HPV? I know I did not have it after having my kids. And I know just about everything there is to know about HPV. It can lie dormant for a long, long time. But in some cases, you do get it due to infidelity. Sometimes it can cause cancer, and then I find out about his 15-year affair when I tested positive. My gynecologist told me I had a dangerous strain that I NEVER had before. The woman he was having an affair with admitted that she had it and told him, yet he did not care and gave it to ME." —nostalgicpony657 10. "Not me, but one of my roommates. I watched her catch her fiancé cheating in real time. They hadn't had a chance to move in together yet, so she was still living in the shared apartment. We were in the living room together, working on essays for our classes, when her phone chimed. She had it out because she was supposed to go pick up our third roommate from the airport. I watched her face go white, and then she stomped back to her room and called him. Turns out he hadn't realized that the browser's autofill option had used her information, and she got a fraud notification from her bank about a big charge on her account. Dude spent a massive chunk of money on an expensive purse. First, she was mad he had overdrawn her account. Then she was mad about the cheating." —torbielillies 11. "We were having a party and all of our friends were there, including his best friend's wife. I was chatting with my best friend when I looked over at them and noticed they were sharing a look with each other, as if they were the only two people on the planet. I instantly knew what was up, and I tried to get them to admit it for months, but they both told me I was crazy... Until he bought a house six months later without me, so he could move her in. She never did, though; she strung him along until she found someone who looked just like him, married the someone, and moved across the country." —Anonymous 12. "He was high and said his body count was two people higher than what he'd told me when we met. We started dating shortly after we met, AND I moved in with him! I stayed with him for another four months, and in that time, he got another girl pregnant! We broke up in June, and he got married in October. But sure, I 'was the problem'🙃." —Anonymous, 21, Missouri 13. "It was the night before I was going to pick up my wedding dress. This was seven months before we were supposed to get married. My fiancé and I were out of town for a wedding. Looking back, things were off, but I didn’t know it at the time. We had been together for almost three years when this happened. At this reception, he was visibly drunk, and at one point, he collapsed at the bar, so drunk he could barely walk. We assisted him to the car, and he lay down on the floor in the backseat. I drove home while he was sleeping/crying. When we got home, he wouldn't get out of the car, so I took him a pillow and blanket, thinking he would sober up at some point and come into the house." "Flash forward an hour. I wake up to him, screaming and crying in the house, saying I left him. He had proceeded to poop his pants, piss, and puke all over himself. I helped him get into the bathroom and take his clothes off, down to his underwear. Just before we got to the underwear, something told me to look at his phone. In his texts, there was a private message between a married woman and him about how he loves her and had been meeting up. I then confronted him about it. He immediately sobered up. Then proceeded to tell me it was my fault that he was cheating on me and wasn’t happy for a long time while dry heaving over the bathtub. After listening to a little of his explanation, I took my ring off, set it on the counter, and told him we needed to break up. I took our dog and left. I called his mom to tell her what happened, and she had some excuse protecting her son, and it was very clear she was not in support of me at all. I never saw him in person again, but the thought of him gagging over the bathtub with a visible lump of poop loaded into his underwear will forever be ingrained in my mind. In the aftermath, I found out he wasn’t as good a person as he made himself out to be. Dodged a major bullet." —Anonymous, 34, Illinois 14. "In my early 20s, my longtime boyfriend confessed that he thought he had AIDS because he had cheated on me with a sex worker in Thailand, and something bad was happening with his penis. He’d also cheated on me with a couple of other girls, and I hadn’t even suspected a thing because I didn’t think he had any game, LOL. Anyway, it turned out his penis was just chafed from excessive masturbation. " —Anonymous, 36, Washington 15. Lastly, "Not us, but neighbors across the street. Our kids and theirs were around the same age, and they’d play all day together. We got to know the parents well enough to trust them completely. They had an early version of a camcorder that we borrowed for a birthday party. We still have that tape. His wife was recording a play date at her house, when she rewound it, the first two minutes were of her husband and another woman having sex. It seems the 8-track player under their TV didn’t rewind completely when she hit erase, but the camcorder did just fine. Oops, it figured prominently in their divorce." —icymug343 Responses have been edited for length/clarity. Did you accidentally catch your partner cheating? What happened?
