A 13-year-old boy, reported missing since Saturday evening, was found dead near his residence at Manalmedu in Mayiladuthurai district on Sunday morning. The deceased has been identified as A. Arul Selvan. According to police sources, the boy had been staying at his aunt’s house after the death of his mother. He reportedly went out on Saturday evening for fishing but did not return. Following this, a missing person complaint was lodged at the Manalmedu police station by his uncle, Ilavarasan. Around 7 a.m. on Sunday, local residents spotted the body and alerted the police. Preliminary inquiry revealed there were no external injuries on the body. Police suspect the boy may have died by suicide. A case has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The body was sent to the Mayiladuthurai Government Hospital for post-mortem.
