The police seized 120 kg of gutkha and other banned tobacco products, being smuggled in a car from Bengaluru, and arrested one person at Iruvelpattu near here on Tuesday.

Following a tip-off on the movement of the contraband, a police team intercepted the car at Iruvelpattu. On searching the vehicle, the team found 120 kg of gutkha and other tobacco products.

The car driver, P. Kathiravan, 38 of Bahour in Puducherry was arrested and remanded in custody.
