11.25 lakh palm seeds to be planted across Erode district

Erode district has a target of planting 11.25 lakh palm seeds as part of the State-wide 2025 Palm Seed Plantation Campaign.

Chairing a review meeting at the Erode Collectorate on Friday, District Collector S. Kandasamy highlighted that building on the success of the 2024 Tamil Nadu Seed Planting Campaign, which saw 44,90,423 palm seeds planted across 38 districts, the State government has launched the 2025 campaign. The initiative, in collaboration with the Departments of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry, the Tamil Nadu Volunteers Organisation, and district administrations, started on September 16 (World Ozone Day) and will conclude on October 15 (Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s birth anniversary).

The campaign aims to plant six crore palm seeds across water bodies, coastal regions, barren lands, and palm groves. In Erode district, a target of 11,25,000 seeds has been set, to be completed by October 15. All planting activities are being geo-tagged using the Udhavi App to ensure proper tracking and documentation. The Collector urged everyone in the district to participate actively. Volunteers completing the planting with accurate geo tags will receive government-signed certificates of participation.
