ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formally inaugurated Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme 2025 in Islamabad today, marking a major step towards empowering the country’s youth with modern skills and technology. Under the scheme, 100,000 laptops will be distributed to talented students across Pakistan based on merit. Addressing inaugural ceremony, the premier highlighted that Youth Laptop Scheme has been operational since 2011, with around 50 billion rupees spent so far. “For the education and skills development of our nation’s children, spending 50 billion, or even 500 billion rupees, will never be a hesitation for us,” he said. He stressed importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and IT education for Pakistan’s youth, revealing that Saudi Arabia has offered to provide free training in AI and IT to Pakistani students. “Millions of children will be sent to Saudi Arabia for advanced training, helping Pakistan secure a leading position in the AI field,” he added. PM Sharif praised sacrifices of national martyrs and reiterated the government’s commitment to channel all resources towards the development of the country’s young talent. He expressed pride in standing before the nation’s bright students, calling their achievements a result of parental guidance, teachers’ efforts, and the students’ hard work. Students at ceremony lauded the initiative, describing it as an excellent investment in their future. Many said that the laptops would help them not only enhance their skills and earn income but also pass on knowledge to others. The scheme ensures 100% merit-based distribution of laptops, reinforcing the government’s pledge to reward hard work and talent. With this initiative, Pakistan aims to empower the next generation to compete globally in technology and innovation.
