Liberian Labour Ministry Undertakes Learning Visit to Sierra Leone* Freetown, Monday, 27th October, 2025__A high-powered delegation from the Liberian Ministry of Labour, led by the Deputy Minister of Labour, Honourable Steven S. Kolubah, has paid a working visit to Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security (MELSS), in an effort to strengthen institutional capacity and share experiences with Sierra Leone on effective labour administration and management. The delegation was warmly received by the Ministry’s Senior Permanent Secretary, Mr Joseph Tekman Kanu, who led a short engagement with the Liberian team and MELSS management team members at the Ministry’s headquarters in Freetown. During the engagement, Deputy Minister Kolubah expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Government and people of Sierra Leone for the warm hospitality extended to his delegation since their arrival on Saturday. He highlighted the long-standing social, cultural, and governance similarities between the two nations, emphasising that Liberia purposefully chose Sierra Leone for this learning visit due to its remarkable progress in labour governance. “Like yours, our President desires progress, and because we have observed huge success in this part, we request that you permit us to understand your systems critically and see which ones we can take back home for replication,” he stated. The working visit is expected to deepen bilateral collaboration and promote sustained knowledge exchange between the two West African countries. The Liberian delegation– comprising Assistant Ministers and senior technical officers–sought to study Sierra Leone’s administrative and operational frameworks in areas such as policy, planning, monitoring, research, occupational safety and health, social protection, procurement, human resource management, and general labour and employment administration. The visiting officials were paired with their Sierra Leonean counterparts for hands-on discussions and institutional learning sessions over the next 3 days. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation in promoting decent work, strengthening labour market institutions, and advancing social protection systems for workers in the subregion. *Information Unit* *Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security* *+23276468761
