₹7.5-cr. drive to provide JJ cluster houses with water

Delhi Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh launched the Har Ghar Jal Yojana (Piped water to every household scheme) on Saturday, aimed at providing piped water connections to nearly 460 households in 45 JJ clusters across the city.

“Access to safe water is not just a basic necessity but a crucial enabler for public health, dignity and social development,” Mr. Singh said.

The New Delhi Municipal Council’s (NDMC) initiative, with a project cost of ₹7.5 crore, is divided into three groups and is expected to be completed within the next two months, according to a statement from the NDMC. Under group A, work in eight of the 15 identified clusters has been completed, with the remaining to be finished by December 2025, the statement read.

“This development is part of NDMC’s larger mission of upgrading civic amenities in informal settlements and extending essential infrastructure to marginalised communities,” the NDMC said in a statement.
