“That’s the way I could see it” - Nico Carrillo eyes Shadow matchup in potential title eliminator for Tawanchai

Scottish knockout artist Nico Carrillo believes he’s just a few wins away from securing a title shot against ONE featherweight Muay Thai kingpin Tawanchai PK Saenchai. But to do so, ‘King of the North’ knows he must eventually dance with another world title hopeful in the loaded 155-pound ranks, Shadow Singha Mawynn of Thailand. The No.4-ranked contender has put the division on notice after moving up from bantamweight. Carrillo made his presence felt right away after he knocked out respected mainstay Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong at ONE Fight Night 30 in April.Shadow, on the other hand, has emerged as one of the division's most exciting talents. His relentless combinations and high-volume output have been a terror for opponents. The once unheralded gem has blossomed into a legitimate threat. That said, Carrillo sees an inevitable clash that should determine the next in line for gold. The Glasgow native shared in an interview with the South China Morning Post (SCMP):“Once Shadow and I fight, that will be like a title eliminator. And then hopefully by that time, Tawanchai will be ready to defend his Muay Thai belt again. That’s the way I could see it planning out.”Watch the full interview:Nico Carrillo and Shadow have upcoming fights lined upNico Carrillo will seek to continue his momentum at 155 pounds when he battles Luke 'The Chef' Lessei at ONE Fight Night 37 on Prime Video on November 7.Shadow, on the other hand, is set to report for duty a month later at ONE Fight Night 38 on Prime Video on December 5.The Thai slugger will run it back with Mohamed Younes Rabah after their first match was ruled a no-contest due to an inadvertent eye-poke.Both events will air live in US Primetime from Bangkok's iconic Lumpinee Stadium.
