Jemimah Rodrigues played a match-winning knock of 127 not out to take India into the final of the ongoing ICC Women's ODI World Cup on Thursday, October 30. Her innings came against Australia in the semifinal, played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, and ensured that India comfortably chased down a mammoth target of 339.Soon after the match, an old post of former England captain Nasser Hussain on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) went viral. In the post, which was shared in April 2018, Hussain was seen applauding Rodrigues' skills, and predicting that she would soon become a 'star' for India.Hussain had come to India with Sky Sports in 2018 and did a few throwdowns with Rodrigues in Mumbai. While Rodrigues' contribution was vital, she was helped by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur's 89, which came off 88 deliveries.Amanjot Kaur also remained unbeaten with 15 runs, but it was Rodrigues who ran the show. She struck 14 boundaries during her stay at the crease, which lasted 134 deliveries. Walking out to bat at number three, she steered India's innings till the end.Earlier, Australia's total of 338 had been propped up by opener Phoebe Litchfield's 119, which came off just 93 deliveries. All-rounders Ellyse Perry (77) and Ashleigh Gardner (64) also struck half-centuries, even as India bowlers Sree Charani and Deepti Sharma picked up two wickets apiece. India will now face South Africa in the final at the same venue on Sunday, November 2.The Women in Blue are yet to win the ODI World Cup, having finished runners-up twice, in 2005 and 2017. South Africa, too, are yet to get their hands on the trophy. The Women's ODI World Cup, therefore, will have a new champion on Sunday.
