Sportscaster Joe Davis met the ire of "Mad Dog" Chris Russo for hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers' World Series parade on Monday. The sports personality roasted Davis for his involvement after leading FOX's national broadcast for the World Series.According to Russo, speaking during the Mad Dog Unleashed podcast's latest episode, Joe Davis gave up his objective neutrality as an announcer by attending the celebratory event of the team that took home the championship."I got Joe at Dodger Stadium doing the freaking Dodger parade!" Russo exclaimed. "Oh my god! That’s bad! I’m sorry! I don’t care what you say! You can say I’m screaming and yelling about nothing! That would piss me off if I’m a Blue Jay fan! “I got Joe Davis shaking everybody’s hand! Shaking freaking Ohtani’s hand!"Russo also spoke on behalf of the Toronto Blue Jays fanbase, who the Dodgers beat in the World Series after seven gruelling games.“If you’re a Blue Jay fan, you’re vomiting right now,” Russo continued. “That is bad. I don’t care what you say. You could say I’m being hard. That’s ridiculous. Chris, what’s the big deal? He does the games. Nonsense. He’s the voice of the World Series — supposed to be right down the middle. Obviously, he’s rooting his a** off for the Dodgers in the World Series. And everybody who I spoke to hated the idea.”Joe Davis has been part of Fox Sports' MLB broadcast since 2014. He was made their first-choice play-by-play announcer in 2022. This year was his fourth World Series that he had called for the company. Along with his national role, he has been the Dodgers' play-by-play announcer for Sportsnet Spectrum LA since 2016.Plenty of fans have questioned Davis' unbiasedness towards the Dodgers, especially after their consecutive appearances in the World Series. Many of his calls this year were debated online.Joe Davis explains staying neutral during a high-octane gameRecently, on Tuesday, in an exclusive with The Athletic, Joe Davis opened up about his announcing style. He gave insight into his processes while touching upon the biased talks that surround him because of his association with the Dodgers.“The challenging part for me is not playing it down the middle or getting excited for the Blue Jays or maybe getting less excited than I would on the Dodgers broadcast,” he said. “The hard part is reorganizing all the information in my head that I have on the Dodgers to frame (for) the World Series audience. The challenge is reframing and rethinking the information.”In the MLB offseason, Davis will now take up duties as Fox's NFL broadcast as their second-choice play-by-play announcer, a role he has held, since 2022.
