Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) Jayant Chaudhary announced that the National Skill Training Institute (NSTI), Chennai, will be upgraded into a ‘Centre of Excellence’ for ₹200 crore under the Prime Minister’s Scheme for Empowerment through Technology Upgradation (PM Setu). He said this at NSTI after a review of the institute. According to a release NSTI in Chennai would specialise in advanced manufacturing, with Singapore as the international partner for training under a memorandum of understanding between the two countries. Mr. Chaudhary urged institutions to nurture youth potential and emphasised continuous upskilling of teachers and trainers, the release said. Later, he visited the National Instructional Media Institute, released a book titled ‘Shawl Weaving Artisan’, and launched NIMI Talks – Voice of ITI, a multilingual podcast. Members of Parliament Roop Kumari Choudhary and Ayodhya Rami Reddy Alla and senior officials attended the meeting, the release said.
