The Road continued its musical journey with the remaining nine musicians handpicked by Blake Shelton, Taylor Sheridan and Keith Urban competing in the new CBS singing competition in which they serve as the opening act for Keith. Their third stop was at The Oklahoma Ranch in Oklahoma City. For their third performance of the season, the nine artists were again divided into two groups over a two-night event. Each artist had to sing an original song and a cover with the goal in mind to impress the audience, who voted. The four on the first night were Cassidy Daniels, Cody Hibbard, Jenny Tolman and Forrest McCurren, but for Cody, a sudden medical emergency – kidney stones – meant he wasn’t performing at the top of his game and which might have cut his journey short. Next week, the remaining five will perform and someone else will be eliminated. The grand prize for winning The Road is a slot at Stagecoach, a recording contract and $250,000. For her third performance in a row, Cassidy Daniels finished on top for her cover of Chris Stapleton’s “I Think I’m In Love With You” and her original song “Southern Rock.” “That says a lot,” Blake told her. “You were first to go.” Meaning being up first isn’t an easy position to be in.
