An East Coast amusement park will close this weekend. Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor in Bowie, Maryland, will close on Sunday. “This weekend, Nov. 1-2, is your last chance to visit Six Flags America forever,” the park said in a message on its Facebook page. The park has more than 100 rides, slides, shows, and eight roller coasters. The move to close the approximately 500-acre park is part of the company’s ongoing portfolio optimization program, it said earlier this year. “Thank you for 50 years of family fun,” the park said. The park employs approximately 70 full-time associates. Six Flags has hired the commercial real estate company CBRE to market the property for sale. The Six Flags Entertainment Corporation operates 27 amusement parks, 15 water parks, and nine resort properties across 17 states in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The park is located at 13710 Central Ave. and is about 150 miles from Harrisburg.
