‘Salman Khan used to cry vehemently…’: Lyricist Sameer Anjaan reveals after breakup with Aishwarya

Hindi film superstar Salman Khan and actress Aishwarya Rai’s affair is well known. It is often rumoured that Salman’s breakup with Aishwarya had a profound impact on him. Now, years later, Tere Naam lyricist Sameer Anjaan revealed that after his separation from Aishwarya, Salman would cry while listening to the song on the set of Tere Naam. Salman Khan’s expressions in the title track of Tere Naam and the song Kyon Kisi Ko Wafa Ke Badle Wafa Nahi Milti seem absolutely genuine. This, according to Anjaan, was because of Salman’s breakup with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. In a recent interview with Shubhankar Mishra, Sameer Anjaan revealed Salman Khan’s state of mind after his breakup with Aishwarya Rai. Sameer Anjaan said about the song Tere Naam: “The title track was not written keeping him in mind. What was written was his real story of breaking up with Aishwarya Rai. Salman used to call Himesh Reshammiya and make him sing this song (Tere Naam) before giving the shot and would cry. He would say, ‘Come and sing this song for me.’” Salman and Aishwarya’s affair lasted three years. The two met on the set of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999. During this time, they grew close and began dating. However, they broke up just three years later, in 2002. Following her breakup with Salman, Aishwarya married Abhishek Bachchan in 2007 and welcomed their daughter, Aaradhya. Salman Khan, on the other hand, has yet to settle down.
