‘Rs 1.78 Lakh For Nursery’: Man’s Post On High School Is A Nightmare For Parents, Internet Says ‘Just Another Business Model’

Rising school fees have become a major concern for parents across India. A recent social media post has now sparked a fresh debate on just how costly education has become. A man recently took to X to share a photo of a fee slip from a well-known private school, leaving many social media users stunned. The post doesn’t just highlight the high costs but also questions why families who already pay heavy taxes still struggle to afford quality education for their children. The image he shared shows the fee structure of a Hyderabad-based private school for the academic year 2025-26. The Post That Started The Discussion The photo attached to the tweet shows a detailed fee chart from Delhi Public School, Hyderabad, listing tuition and transportation charges for different classes. The tuition fee, payable in three instalments, ranges from Rs 1,78,500 for pre-primary students to Rs 2,50,500 for Class XI. Transportation fees go up to Rs 59,800 per year, depending on the distance from the school. In the post, the man wrote, “Rs 2,50,500 per year for Class XI. Rs 1,78,500 even for Nursery.” He continued, “Dear Shameless Politicians, After paying lakhs and lakhs in taxes, is this what education has become in India? You collect 31.2 per cent income tax, hefty GST, and a dozen other taxes, yet can’t even ensure free, quality education for taxpayers’ children.” He also stated, “Stop calling yourselves leaders, you’re just revenue slaves serving the rich. Even the so-called educated politicians at the Centre behave like obedient servants to their political masters.” He ended the post with a powerful line, “India is ruined to the core.” ₹2,50,500 per year for Class XI. ₹1,78,500 even for Nursery. Many users agreed with the frustration, saying private education has become a “luxury.” A user wrote, “It’s a full-scale business now. Even small-town schools charge Rs 5,000 a month.” Another said, “Nursery fees now feel like engineering college fees! Education has truly become a business.” Some, however, offered a different take: “There are cheaper schools, but quality matters. Big schools like DPS or HPS do give students an edge.” Others pointed fingers at the system, “The education industry is run by politically connected people. It’s just another business model now.”
