There is one bar in the world where no sane, sensible person still in command of their faculties wants to drink right now: The, unironically named ‘Doghouse’. If you haven’t heard of this, it’s because you are not one of the lucky people who call Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson your boss. The Doghouse is the purpose-built bar behind Royal Lodge and it’s there that a “s***-scared” Fergie is reportedly seeing out evenings before she and Andrew are finally turned out of the palatial property. Copied URL to clipboard Trump addresses Andrew’s royal exile over Epstein link President Donald Trump addresses Prince Andrew's royal exile over his link... And Andrew? He’s “ranting and muttering” with one expert warning that King Charles’ brother “is going to be charged”, he will “probably go to jail” and that “he’s toast”. For now, Andrew and Fergie are still living at the Lodge with their eviction set to happen in the new year, when they will be punted out and forced to live in dreary bits of Norfolk (him) and on borrowed pull out sofa bed in Verbier (her, I’m guessing). However, until then, they are holed up inside the Lodge and things sound like they have taken on a certain Colonel Kurtz energy. Sarah Ferguson with the former Prince Andrew. Picture: Jordan Pettitt / POOL / AFP “They are both spending a lot of time alone,” a source told The Sun. “Andrew rarely goes out and has been padding around the lodge and ranting and muttering.” Meanwhile, Fergie is “in the throes of a meltdown over the sudden downturn in her fortunes”, the Daily Mail has reported. So, she’s allegedly doing what many of us do when stressed – reaching for a cold one. “Sarah is spending quite a lot of evenings in The Doghouse,” the Sun’s source has said. “She drinks in there with friends and staff to escape from what is going on in her life generally. And while she is there, she takes advice on what to do next. The pair are currently spending a lot of time alone in Royal Lodge. Picture: Shutterstock “Luckily Sarah has quite a few staff left working for her who really like her, and she is really leaning on them for support.” The former duchess “in particular, is panicking about what comes next and she is not in a good place.” (Still, someone inside the Lodge is clearly compos mentis enough to have arranged for several boxes of French Devaux brand champagne, which costs about $90 a bottle in Australia, to be ferried over.) Andrew and Fergie remain inside the Royal Lodge as local wine merchants deliver cases of wine to the property. Picture: MEGA The former marrieds, who Fergie once described as the “world’s happiest divorced couple” no longer sound like they are quite such a success story for the concisely uncoupled. Sure, Andrew and she might both be living in the 30-room pile but they are in different wings, which are at different ends of the palatial property and doing what sounds like a lot of forlornly staring out of windows and wondering which Caribbean countries have no extradition treaties. “They are both spending a lot of time alone and it leads to loneliness and soul-searching,” said the source. The duo reportedly only come together for lunch and dinner when they “discuss their very different future plans”. The pair are likely figuring out their next steps. Picture: Max Mumby/Indigo/Getty Images Another topic reportedly being discussed, as footmen proffer forth microwaved Lean Cuisines on silver salvers, is their safety. “They have been heard having some pretty intense conversations about what is going on,” the source has said. “She is particularly fearful for Andrew as she knows he was at the centre of the Epstein scandal. She has talked about ‘dark forces’ potentially targeting him. The insider added: “It is probably far-fetched but she is s***-scared and massively on edge.” When Andrew is not moping about his study swinging his comfort putter he is, according to the Daily Mail, “playing hardball” about his future. Where exactly he will live on the Sandringham Estate has not been settled nor the financial terms. He reportedly just needs the barest of everyday essentials, which if you are a defrocked prince translates to “a cook, a housekeeper and a secretary-cum-butler, plus gardeners”, according to the Mail. Things appear to be falling apart for Fergie. Picture: JUSTIN TALLIS / AFP The former prince is reportedly having a hard time. Picture: Adrian DENNIS / AFP Proving you can’t teach an old despised ducal dog new tricks, Andrew “also wants the right to roam, rather than being confined to quarters”, the Mail has reported. Sensationally, the Mail has also reported that not only is Charles having to find a royal property to stash his malodorous berk of a brother but his former sister-in-law too with the Mail revealing that “plans are afoot to quietly – and discreetly – rehome the 66-year-old former duchess, albeit at the King’s expense, to compensate her for the loss of a roof over her head.” You would have to think there’s some method to this PR madness because a homeless, truly broke Fergs would be a very dangerous thing for the Palace indeed. Pushing her to the very edge financially could leave her desperate and with no options but to truly throw Andrew and the royal family under the bus via some sort of eyelid peeling tell-all of TV or book evisceration. However, even when the King has found a couple of estate properties with working central heating and no public sight lines, as we know when it comes to Andrew and Fergie: Things can always get worse. Historian Andrew Lownie, whose bombshell biography Entitled: The Rise And Fall Of The House of York triggered much of the former prince’s downfall, has issued a stunning prediction about where he could ultimately end up. Things have changed a lot since this picture was taken. Picture: Daniel LEAL / AFP “Andrew is going to be charged with various public offences and misconduct in public office … he’ll probably go to jail. The case against him is pretty clear … he’s toast,” Lownie told NewsNation’s Paula Froelich. Lownie has also raised the possibility that both the former duke and duchess could end up overseas, saying, ”Andrew will end up in the UAE like Juan Carlos [Spain’s former king] and as for Fergie, she will likely go to live in Portugal and Switzerland while maintaining a small presence in London with help from friends”. I’m not sure whether being sent off to live in a free house with a cook, secretary, butler, and housekeeper and Sky Sports proves there is such a thing as karma, but for the morally bankrupt, venal former Yorks, it’s at least a start.
