In a bizarre incident from Kolkata, a man arrested on charges of arms smuggling took off his clothes and began singing and dancing in an obscene manner inside a police lockup, prompting an investigation into his behaviour. The man, identified as Mohammad Shahbaz, was arrested on the charge of smuggling firearms and kept in the lockup of the Ekbalpore police station in south Kolkata. The situation took a bizarre turn when he disrobed and started singing and dancing in a vulgar way. An officer said it was apparently aimed at drawing attention. When policemen tried to restrain the accused, also known in the locality as ‘Pagla Shahbaz’, he reportedly issued threats. “Female officers were also present during the incident. It took considerable time for the personnel to control the situation,” the officer told news agency PTI. “His actions last night have prompted us to file a complaint, with an investigation now underway to understand the motives behind this unprecedented behaviour,” he said, adding that female officers were also present during the incident and it took some time for personnel to control the situation. A formal complaint has now been registered against Shahbaz, and an internal inquiry has also been launched. In separate news, a woman in Kolkata has alleged that she was physically assaulted and sexually abused at a nightclub at a five-star hotel in the city. The woman named Nasir Khan, previously convicted in the 2012 Park Street gang rape case, as one of the accused. Police sources told CNN-News18 that the woman and her family had come to the restaurant for a business meeting and were sitting at the same table as the accused. Later, an argument broke out between them, following which the woman lodged a complaint at the South Police Station against Nasir Khan and Juned Khan.
