‘Outstanding’ hot chocolate brand launches in Tesco for first time ever

Chocolate lovers will soon be able to get a new treat at Tesco (Picture: Getty) Now that our nights have officially become dark and gloomy, it’s time to indulge in a treat that always hits the spot: hot chocolate. And if there wasn’t already enough choice in the shops, things just got even sweeter as Tesco has announced it’s going to be stocking a premium product. Hotel Chocolat is launching its iconic hot chocolate flakes on supermarket shelves for the first time ever, with fans of the brand being able to buy packets from 27 October. The launch will be ideal for customers who already own the Velvetiser hot chocolate machine – although it isn’t a required essential for anyone who still fancies making themselves a luxury drink at home. The hot chocolate has become one of the brand’s most iconic products (Picture: Hotel Chocolat) Those keen to get their hands on the flakes will be able to do so in 147 Tesco Extra stores across the UK, as these will be the first to have access to the range. There will be five flavours available including classic 70%, Milky, Salted Caramel, Vanilla White and Black Forest. But it’s worth noting that it’s not going to be the cheapest hot chocolate on the market, priced at £7.95 for a pack containing five sachets. These are slightly smaller than the packs Hotel Chocolat lists on its website, which feature 10 sachets and cost £14.95. Speaking about the launch Hotel Chocolat Co-founder Angus Thirlwell told The Grocer: ‘This is a big move to meet our customers where they are.’ Fans say it’s ‘creamy’, and ‘outstanding’ (Picture: Hotel Chocolat) What do customers think of Hotel Chocolat hot chocolate? Customer reviews of the hot chocolate flakes speak for themselves. On the brand’s website users have labelled the Milky version of product as ‘outstanding’ and ‘fantastic,’ with one individual going as far as to say that ‘it’s like falling in love all over again.’ A reviewer named Jane Ashcroft left five stars, writing: ‘I absolutely adore this hot chocolate. I would never buy any other. It’s rich and creamy without being too sweet. I always buy it and will continue to do so!!!’ While someone known only as Chocolate Lover posted: ‘I’m so in love with this 50% Milky Chocolate as well as the dark chocolate one. In fact all the flavours are simply devilishly delicious. This milky chocolate is my favourite bedtime treat. Its so creamy and delicious, like falling in love all over again.’ And an anonymous customer noted: ‘Luxury in a mug! Feels like a real treat. Excellent with a cheeky Baileys.’ @itsbeckyhoward Gilmore girls, hot chocolate and candles season. @Hotel Chocolat #HotChocolate #GilmoreGirls #Autumn #Cosy #CosySeason ♬ orijinal ses – gilmore🍂☕️ Comment nowWhich flavor of hot chocolate are you most excited to try?Comment Now This comes after Hotel Chocolat released a new iteration of the iconic Velvetiser, a product that’s become one of the brand’s most popular inventions since its launch in 2018. It’s become such a fan-favourite kitchen item that a number of supermarkets have released their own versions of the product, with Aldi and B&M pegged as the best shops to find a slightly more affordable model. ProCook also have a device which works in a similar way but is under £70. You only have to take a quick look at TikTok to get an idea of exactly how much people love their Velvetisers, and more so their personalised hot chocolate routines. It’s not just a product, it’s a lifestyle. The biggest change in the newly released Velvetiser 2.0 is the fact that you can now use the machine to make cold chocolate drinks. Retailing at £109.95, the new model has prompted mixed reaction on social media, with some customers loving the updated changes, and others preferring the OG one. Do you have a story to share?
