Leaders Naparima College will be desperate for a win today when they travel to Westmoorings to face St Anthony’s College in the Premier Division of the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL). Naparima have not tasted victory in their last two matches, losing 1-0 to traditional rivals Presentation College San Fernando and drawing 1-1 with San Juan North Secondary. Those dropped points have allowed St Benedict’s and Fatima College to close within one and two points of Naps, respectively. Anything less than a win today could therefore mean a loss of the lead. Naparima’s opponents today, St Anthony’s, will not be easy targets. The Tigers are currently fifth but have games in hand over all the teams ahead of them - Naparima, St Benedict’s Fatima and Presentation. This afternoon, St Benedict’s will fancy their chances of keeping the pressure on Naps by beating Malick Secondary, who are hovering near the relegation zone in 12th place. Malick, San Juan (11th), Trinity College East (13th) and St Augustine Secondary (14th) are all locked on nine points. Fatima will also be confident of full points when they play winless Carapichaima East Secondary on their Mucurapo Road ground. Presentation, meanwhile, will host St Augustine at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium.
