The Global President of the Swedru Senior High School Old Students Association (SWESCO), Samuel Attah-Mensah, has called on alumni of the school to unite in supporting efforts to rebuild and elevate the school’s image and status. He made the call at the All-Year Group Dinner Night held on Saturday, November 1, at the premises of Channel One TV in Accra. The event brought together past students from various year groups to dine, connect, and celebrate their shared heritage. The Global President said the upcoming 2026 Homecoming and Speech Day will be a true test of alumni commitment, emphasising the goal of moving Swedru Secondary School from a Category B to a Category A school. “We cannot leave it at wishes , we must put our hands to b the plough and show up in every department,” he said. Mr Attah-Mensah also encouraged all alumni, regardless of financial capacity, to offer their support through both resources and active participation. “It’s not always about money. Even encouraging someone to help counts,” he said. The Headmistress of Swedru Secondary School, Mrs. Golda Esi Andam, also appealed passionately to alumni to support the school, particularly in addressing the dire shortage of furniture. “The challenges are numerous. We urgently need classroom, dining hall, science laboratory, and visual arts furniture. I am appealing to all old students and groups to come on board and help,” she said. She expressed gratitude to the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) for its continuous efforts but stressed that the situation required urgent intervention from the alumni community. The dinner night served not only as a time to reconnect but also as a renewed call for unity, purpose, and sustained alumni involvement in ensuring that SWESCO regains its place among Ghana’s top senior high schools.
