‘I’ve tried every high-end dry shampoo and this is hands-down the best’

There’s nothing more frustrating than waking up with second-day hair, only to discover roots have turned greasy and there isn’t enough time to wash it. That’s where a reliable dry shampoo comes in - but all too often, formulas fall short, leaving hair feeling chalky with that tell-tale grey-ish root tint. For years, haircare brand Color Wow has deliberately stayed out of the dry shampoo race, focusing instead on their high performance styling formulas loved by celebrities. Now, they’ve finally joined the category, releasing their Insta-WOW Advanced Dry Shampoo with a formula that could sit head and shoulders above others on the market. Some dry shampoos can reportedly clog follicles, dull colour and leave behind a heavy residue, but Color Wow wanted to ensure that their formula was different. So, they created a dry spray that cleans like a real shampoo, powered by Active Cleansing Technology that removes up to 95% of sebum in one use. READ MORE: Instead of using a powder that sits on top of the oil, the £26.50 Insta-WOW formula uses a shampoo-grade cleanser that breaks down dirt into micro-droplets, while ultra-fine, high-performance starches absorb oil, sweat and build up, while allowing it to be easily brushed-out. The dry shampoo promises ‘virtually no residue’ which means hair won’t feel gritty but will look and feel freshly washed. The deodorising formula has a floral scent with notes of apple blossom, jasmine and lily of the valley, and if that wasn’t enough, it helps ‘normalise excess sebum production’, meaning users can go longer between washes. For another high performance dry shampoo that leaves no residue, there’s the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day (PhD) Advanced Clean Dry Shampoo, which costs £27 at LookFantastic. Featuring a powder removal system, the dry shampoo leaves no residue behind once massaged into the roots, while conditioning agents leave the hair feeling silky-soft. At Boots, the Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo is £25, and i s a talc-free dry shampoo that absorbs oil and refreshes while instantly boosting volume. It’s said to be the number one ‘prestige dry shampoo in the US’, perfect for a post-wash refresh. But Color Wow’s formula is already making waves, with dozens of five star reviews online. One said: “I’ve tried every high end dry shampoo in the market. This is hands-down the best I’ve ever used. My hair is nearly black and there’s truly no white cast, one application gives me two more days without washing.” Another said: “My hair went from oily to fresh looking in minutes. After brushing it felt so good. No icky residue. The next day I woke up with stylable hair. Still no oil. Hair still feels good. I have tried them all. This one is fabulous. Try it, you will love it.” However, the apple blossom and jasmine scent has proven too overpowering for some users, with one commenting: “I am pleased with all my WOW products. But I am sorry the smell to this dry shampoo is too much for my liking. I hope others like it. But not for me.” A fourth hailed it as ‘the best dry shampoo that I have ever used’. Adding: “No white cast and hair doesn't feel like straw afterwards.” Shoppers can find out more about the latest Color Wow release on their website.
