Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development Sharan Prakash Patil said that the State government will put its sincere efforts into building a prosperous State with overall development. He was addressing the gathering after unfurling the national flag at Mahatma Gandhi Stadium in Raichur to mark the 70th Karnataka Rajyotsav on Saturday. The Minister said that Karnataka is a divine paradise of protection of all religions, worship of truth, religious ethics, tolerance of all religions, religious harmony, coexistence, harmony and unity. “The parts of Kannada-speaking areas were united on November 1, 1956, with a separate statehood of Mysore and then renamed as Karnataka state during the period of the then Chief Minister D. Devraj Urs, and ever since the unification, the state has seen growth,” he added. Mr. Patil, who is also the district in-charge minister of Raichur district, said that the fully pledged airport will soon become operational here. “The State government pressurised the Union government to establish the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in the Raichur district. But it is still pending. However, the Centre will decide on it,” he hoped. “The joint survey to assess the crop loss is under way. We will respond to the problems being faced by the cotton growers. The registration for selling cotton under the minimum supportive price (MSP) scheme is in process, and the price is fixed between ₹ 7,710 and ₹8,110 per quintal. Hence, farmers should make use of this opportunity,” he appealed. MLA Shivaraj Patil presided over the programme. President of the Scheduled Tribes Development Board and MLA Basanagouda Daddal, MP G.
